Francesco Fareri Profile
Classical guitarists since he has known Jason Becker. Francesco immediately became involved with Jason’s music, his way of playing and, above all, his life. During 1997/1998, Francesco recorded his first demo tape, “Hurricane”, which contained 4 songs. Thanks tot his demo he started to play gigs in Rome where he played his own songs and covers from Jason Becker. At the end of 1998 Francesco released his second demo tape, called “Labyrinth”, where he also included guitar transcriptions of some solos. In the middle of 1999 he understood that his way of playing had changed, that is had matured through the years thanks to these musicians; George Bellas, Shawn Lane and Greg Howe, but above all, Vitalij Kuprij. On May 1999 Francesco recorded a sort of demo, on CD, to testify his change of ideas. It was called “Seven Magic Arts” and was only for himself. But it wasn’t what he really wanted to hear, so in September he recorded his new demo CD, “Mind Boggling”. He sent the demo to a lot of guitar magazines and he was chosen as one of the Undiscovered Artists at guitar9.com. After that his demo has been reviewed by a lot of sites. Meanwhile his musical ideas had changed again and when these reviews were released he had recorded a new demo CD, called “Suspension”. So the last demo, “Mind Boggling”, was too old now. “Suspension”, recorded at the beginning of January 2000, contained 3 songs which are also on his first album, with the same title, but with more arrangements. Francesco never had a band where he could perform with because he never found musicians with the same ideas. So he usually programs a drum machine, which is in his opinion the best way to solve this problem also because him to appreciate, in an instrumental release, drums at the same level as guitar or keyboards. During 2001 Francesco finally released his first instrumental album, called “Suspension”, influenced by progressive and neoclassical shred guitar playing. It was a really important release for him…he did it all by himself and he still considers it as the first real work of his life. He dedicated his first album to Jason Becker because he was the first who helped Francesco to change his way of playing and writing music. May 2002 Chops From Hell released his first instructional cd-rom based on Arpeggio’s, oin January 2003 the second one called “High Shred Techs” and on March 2004 the third one, “Intense Guitar Playing”. During summer 2003 Vitalij Kuprij asked Francesco to participate with a guitar solo at his fourth solo album (“Forward And Beyond”) and for Francesco it was an honour that such a great musician/influence asked him for that. At the beginning of 2005 Francesco finished recording and producing his second solo album, “Forbidden Dimension”. It includes great players such as Kyle Honea (bass), Jon Doman (drums), Vitalij Kuprij (all piano and keyboards on one song) and Bob Katsionis (keyboard solo’s on 5 songs). The album is filled with instrumental shred/fusion/progressive metal compositions and was released by Lion Music on July 2005. 2007 saw the release of "Secrets Within" which brought a new acoustic side of the Fareri's arsenal and is arguably his best work to date. Fans of slower melodies will probably be a little overwhelmed by Francesco's speedy chops and his doesn't possess the strongest vibrato around, but those that like to hear guitar played on the edge will find a leader in Francesco's lightning fast technique. Francesco loves his music and his way of playing. He prefers to play what he really likes, instead of playing music what he doesn’t like to make money with.
